Your privacy
What you do online stays yours
Rohi protects you from what you don't want to see. It shouldn't take anything from you in return. So we built it to keep almost everything on your own device, and we don't want your data.
It stays on your device
Your church, your tradition, your settings and the pages Rohi keeps off your screen are stored in your browser, not on our servers.
No accounts, no tracking
There's nothing to sign up for. No advertising, no analytics, no profile of you. We don't sell or share data, because we don't collect it.
You choose what's shared
The few things that can leave your device are off until you turn them on, and you can turn each one off again at any time.
Who sees what
| Who | What they can see | What they never see |
|---|---|---|
| You | Everything Rohi keeps, on your device. You can clear it all in Settings. | Nothing is hidden from you. |
| Your church | Nothing about you. If you turn on "Let my church know", it sees one more in its count of members. If you lead a small group and choose the church, it sees the group's name, when and where it meets, your name and how many people are in it, so it can confirm the group, and how many members reported the group. | Your name, what you read, what you search, or whether you opened today's verse. |
| Your accountability partner (only if you choose one) | How many pages Rohi kept off your screen each day, and whether protection is on in private windows or was removed. | Which sites or searches, page addresses, your history, or the time of day. |
| Your prayer friends (only people you add by a link) | Your name as you give it, the requests you share with them, and how many times friends prayed for yours. | Requests you keep "just for me" or share with someone else, your other friends, or anything else in Rohi. |
| Your small group (only if its leader turns on sharing and you join by its link) | Your first name, the prayer requests you share with the group, and who prayed for them. Your leader sees how many people reported a request, not who. | Anything else in Rohi: your prayers with friends, what you read, browse or search. |
| Rohi (us) | Requests for your church's public posts, by the church's id only. If you have a partner, those daily counts, linked to a random pair number, not to you. If you pray with friends or your small group shares, your requests, names and the leader's note locked so we can't read them, and how many times each request was prayed for. | Your name, email, browsing, searches, tradition, or the device you use. We don't keep addresses. |
| What's Up Church | The church name you type when you search for your church, and your church's id to get its public events. | Who you are, or anything else you do. |
| Google (only if you turn on sync) | Your Rohi settings, in your own Google account, so they follow you to your other computers. | Your background photo. |
What we will never do
- Show your church, your pastor or anyone else what you browse or search.
- Sell, rent or share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
- Put advertising, affiliate links or tracking in Rohi.
- Read the pages you visit. Protection works by rules your browser applies, without Rohi looking at the pages.
- Ask for your passwords.
How it's kept safe
Checked before it reaches you
Every version of the extension is reviewed by the Chrome Web Store and signed before it installs, and it can't download new code later.
Locked connections
Everything Rohi sends travels over encrypted connections, and our pages refuse scripts from anywhere else.
Nothing worth stealing
Our servers hold church posts, partner counts under a random number, and prayer requests locked on your computer with a key we never get. Church and partner keys are stored scrambled, so even we can't read them.
For your church
Pastors and church staff can share announcements and a verse for each day of the week. They reach the new tab of everyone who chose that church, and the church never learns who they are. We don't offer churches a way to see what members do online, and we won't. If you send your church a prayer request, its prayer team reads it first; a request just for your pastor goes only to your pastor, with your first name so they can reach out. Requests are deleted after 30 days, or sooner if you remove them. Every number a church sees is counted by Rohi, and nobody at the church can change it.
You're in control
- Clear everything: Settings → Privacy & data → Clear Rohi data. Removing the extension does the same.
- Stop sharing with your partner: either of you can end it at any time, and everything for the pair is deleted.
- Remove a prayer friend in Prayers at any time: the friendship and every request in it are deleted for both of you. Requests end on their own after 30 days.
- Leave a small group from its Edit button: your requests leave with you. A leader can take down any request, remove someone, make a new link, or end sharing, which deletes everything for the group.
- Turn off sync or "Let my church know" in Settings whenever you like.
